Position Summary:
We are seeking a litigation paralegal to work closely with firm attorneys, clients, staff attorneys, legal specialists, other paralegals, litigation interns, case clerks and others to service the cases and projects to which they are assigned by firm attorneys or CSS management. The litigation paralegal interacts regularly with all firm personnel.
The litigation paralegal will provide leadership and organizational support to the firm’s administrative, criminal defense, bankruptcy and civil litigation practices. Litigation paralegals are expected to reach the firm's annual billable hours goal of 1650 hours billed to firm client matters (including pro bono matters) and approved program or department work, maintain regular office hours consistent with the firm’s normal business hours and be available, as needed, for after-hours and weekend overtime.
Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. Completion of an ABA-accredited paralegal certification program, or other advanced degree such as a J.D. from an accredited law school, legal course work or significant work experience such that statutory requirements are satisfied (BP § 6450 compliant).
Minimum of five (5) years experience as a litigation paralegal or attorney, including at least two (2) years as a paralegal at a comparable major law firm.
Strong organizational, reasoning and research skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good judgment; attention to detail; initiative. Team player, team-building and leadership experience.
Demonstrates initiative in seeking work and managing work load. Consistently produces high-quality work; regularly checks for errors and makes corrections as necessary; takes ownership of projects and completes assignments in a timely fashion.
Possesses the knowledge and basic skills that are required to perform the essential functions of the position. Demonstrates working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), FileSite, CaseMap, LiveNote, Relativity, Concordance and other relevant software applications.
