Ron S. Best is eDiscovery counsel with Munger, Tolles & Olson.
In this role, Mr. Best oversees firmwide and case-specific eDiscovery and matter management strategy, implementation and cost control.
As eDiscovery counsel, Mr. Best serves as a facilitator among firm attorneys, clients and IT/practice support on discovery, fact analysis and matter management issues involving technology. Case responsibilities include discovery strategy and management, data analytics, case information management for law and motion support, deposition preparation, expert preparation and trial support, cost projection modeling, and damages modeling.
Mr. Best also develops and enhances general firm technology strategy and adoption. This includes needs assessment, vendor qualification and best practices for client extranets, document and knowledge management systems and records retention.
Prior to rejoining Munger Tolles, Mr. Best was director of government sales operations and planning for MicronPC in Boise, Idaho; executive vice president and general counsel for CheckFast, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah; a litigation associate at Hall, Farley, Oberrecht & Blanton in Boise, Idaho; and a litigation associate at Munger Tolles.
Mr. Best earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, Order of the Coif, where he completed an externship for Judge Irving Hill of the District Court of Los Angeles. He received dual honors B.A. degrees, magna cum laude, in economics and political science from the University of Utah. He is admitted to the California bar and on inactive status with the Alaska, Colorado, Idaho and Oregon state bars.
