Construction Begins in Next Phase of San Francisco’s Mission Rock Masterplan
Construction has begun on the latest project located within the Mission Rock master plan situated across from the San Francisco Giants’ Oracle Park.
The mixed-use 23-story tower known as “Building A” is one of four Mission Rock Phase 1 buildings and is the second of the four to begin construction. The building, designed by Rotterdam-based MVDRV, features undulating balconies that extend to the top of the building’s western façade, presenting a unique rocky exterior.
Munger, Tolles & Olson represented the developers in connection with securing construction financing for Building A.
Mission Rock is being developed by Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants in a public-private partnership with the Port of San Francisco. The development will include significant public improvements, including streets, parks, a wharf-side beach area, and utilities, and the development and financing of 11 residential, office and retail mixed-use buildings over four phases.
In addition to advising on the construction financing for Building A, Munger Tolles continues to provide strategic counsel on the structuring of various aspects of the public-private partnership. In June 2020, Munger Tolles also helped successfully close the acquisition of the ground lease of Building G, an office building that will become the new global headquarters for Visa Inc.
