Top Cyber Lawyer: Jonathan Blavin
Munger, Tolles & Olson litigator Jonathan H. Blavin has been named as a Top Cyber Lawyer by the Daily Journal in a report published on Jan. 23, 2019 recognizing a select group of attorneys for achievements in cutting-edge Internet and cybersecurity law. The newspaper highlighted Mr. Blavin’s representation of Airbnb in litigation where he successfully obtained dismissal under the Communications Decency Act of a lawsuit in which a real estate trust investment company alleged that Airbnb interfered with its lease agreements and aided and abetted trespass.
The Daily Journal also described Mr. Blavin’s defense of Facebook in a nationwide class action alleging that the company’s ad platform allows third-party advertisers to discriminate against users seeking housing, employment and credit.
Mr. Blavin has substantial experience in Internet and privacy-related litigation involving Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. He also has significant experience in high-technology intellectual property disputes, including claims brought under the Copyright and Digital Millennium Copyright Acts, and federal and state trademark statutes. Mr. Blavin previously has been recognized as a Top Technology Law Attorney Under 40 by Law360 and as an Intellectual Property Trailblazer by the National Law Journal.
