Elaine J. Goldenberg Elected to American Academy of Appellate Lawyers

Munger, Tolles & Olson litigator Elaine J. Golderberg was elected to membership of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

Ms. Goldenberg was selected based on her “reputation of recognized distinction as an appellate lawyer,” according to the academy’s announcement dated Jan. 29, 2020.

The American Academy of Appellate Lawyers was founded in 1990 to recognize outstanding appellate lawyers and promote the improvement of appellate advocacy and the administration of the appellate courts. Membership is by invitation only and limited to just 500 members in the United States. To be eligible, an attorney must have focused his or her practice substantially on appeals during at least the last 15 years.

Ms. Goldenberg focuses her practice on appeals and complex litigation. She joined the firm in 2017 from the U.S. Department of Justice, where she served as an Assistant to the Solicitor General. She has argued 12 cases in the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous cases in other appellate courts, including cases involving financial services law, securities law, foreign state immunity, constitutional law and extraterritoriality questions. During her tenure in the Solicitor General’s Office, she wrote and filed hundreds of briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and received the John Marshall Award for Outstanding Legal Achievement for Handling of Appeals.
